If you've never been you really ought to go.
I've been to several events Monster Planes, Ralley of the Giants, to name a couple...this far out weighs them all.
The grounds are immaculate....with at least 2 man made lakes in a small valley. The grounds are maintained by a small army during Nall week.
I didn't go up until Friday night...entring the grounds Sat morning. The first thing that you'll notice this event is NOT open to the public. You must be an AMA member or a guest of an AMA member, that accompanies a non member.
There are people camped everywhere....the temp was a pleasent 80 degress or so with a nice was at the gate where you sign a wavier and are issued a wrist band (id's you as a member). From there it is a short walk to a couple of different flight lines and vendors row.
Yes there are 5 different flight lines at once, although I only saw 3. Helis, 3D, and one that is more like we fly at Gateway, but for that line you must be an IMAC member. There was folks flying float planes off of one of the lakes, that may count as a 4th line.
There are food vendors as well, although I thought they were pricey...
There is a museum with full scale as well as RC aircraft. The biggest RC airplane I ever saw, just under 500 lbs. Plus my instructor, who we lost a couple of years ago, had his last airplane displayed there.
Next to the museum is the building where the Fri night banquet is held...the view is very nice overlooking one of the Ashley said a nice place for a wedding...I wonder what she's thinking.
There a big and small airplanes everywhere...turbines too, even a turbine with vectored thrust.....
As always the modeller helping the modeller with any and everything attitude was present.
I ran into a friend that I flew with back in Virginia, he goes every year, he told me that in all the years the Nall has been going on there hasn't been so much as a screwdriver stolen.....
So in my opinion, if you wanna know what RC is all about...GO TO THE NALL
